Checking a provider in California
On GroundBid, providers are verified (identity, insurance, and a state license for licensed trades such as roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and remodeling) before they can bid.
You can also check a contractor's license yourself with the Contractors State License Board (CSLB): official license lookup · 800-321-2752. California licenses contractors statewide through the CSLB. Its lookup shows a contractor's license status, classifications, bond, workers' compensation, personnel and any discipline.
Licensing and permit rules can change and vary by city and county. This is general information, not legal advice; confirm with the licensing board or your local building department. License lookups for every state →
How GroundBid works
Describe the project with photos, choose how long bidding stays open, and verified providers send private, sealed bids that other providers can't see. Compare them, accept the one you want, and your payment is held until you confirm the work is complete. How sealed bidding works →
